Long Range, Strategic and Master Planning for Agricultural and Forestry Lands


Economics and Ecology dont have to be at odds. As you create a vision for the future of your family and local community, you want to know that the systems you develop today will endure. Because many forest trees in Cascadia have life spans of 500 years, we offer planning that matches their longevity- planning to the 7^7th generation. Though we certainly recognize and plan for shorter cycles, we keep this 500 year cycle in mind through all other planning. Specializing in Prospectus and financial proforma development and LLP, non profit and trust ownership models, Abundance works with you to create a long term vision, strategy and management plan for your private, non profit or government holdings, creating an ecology and economy that is stable and productive.



Permaculture Design, Analysis, and Training


We offer Permaculture Design Education in a variety of courses ranging from a 4 hour Introduction for youth aged 13-up to 72 hour Design Certificate courses specific to your site and vision, and tempered by our experience and allies. This coupled with our charette service is perhaps the most direct and powerful way you can enjoin the landscape for the realization of your sustainable vision.

If you arent ready or available for the time commitment needed to learn how to design your own project, our analysis of systemic material and energy flows, including economic analysis of existing features and potential developments, includes current cost trajectory and reconfiguration proformas. Coupled with our partners who specialize in graphic landscape design with hand drawn, GIS and CAD formats, we can develop a complete systemic design package for your project or property.



Natural Built and Ecological Construction


We go a step further than Green Building. Abundance Consulting arose through Real Estate Management services, including construction management. We now focus on the construction of strawbale, cob, timberframe and salvage materials projects. We have experience in remodel and new build of domestic and commercial application of these materials, including detail systems such as radiant hydronic space heating, on demand water heating, passive solar heating and cooling and active solar power. Our associates offer LEED accreditation, AIA, USGBC and Green Builders Guild membership. If you want a home that will last until your great grandchildren are great grandparents, and are concerned about their health, the hidden costs of volatile chemicals and questionable materials streams, we can work with you to remodel or build a home that is not only fairly priced today, but will give back its worth over and over again as generations move through it.



Design Charette Facilitation


Design processes for large projects often require input from multiple stakeholders and/or shareholders and may take multiple sessions. Abundance and our associates have the experience to provide both breadth and depth in Land Use Design Charrettes. We begin the process of design charrette facilitation with a shared background in permaculture systems design. Following this educational phase we examine issues specific to the site such as federal, state, and local legislation, stakeholder vision and resource pools and flows. Vision and intention are not enough: Methodology is needed to realize vision. We offer proven methodolgy for the realization of sustainable visions.



Consensus Decision Making Facilitation, Land Use Dispute Resolution


When working with large stakeholder groups including various interests such as public, private, and agency interests, visions and directions can sometimes seem incongruent. Consensus is not a process of win-loose decision making. Our Consensus Facilitation is informed by Challenge Facilitation, Non-Violent Communication practice and establishment of Shared Values. From the rootword 'consent', a consensus decision is one that all parties concerned can offer consent too.


Occasionally land use disputes arise between stakeholders. A non-vested third party mediator with an understanding of the potentials of the Ecological Systems involved can be the difference between a project moving forward or failing. In this case we offer Land Use Dispute Resolution. Resolution of contentious issues saves energy and funding by focusing stakeholders on keystone topics. When entrenched disputes arise, a third party with no vested interests can actively listen and observe communication process and dialogue, offering critical input and framing discourse guidelines such that progress can be made.
